On Sunday afternoon the usual public meeting of the Order of the Star in the East was held in the Star Hall, Woodward Street. . Mr. Tolley gave a very interesting address on the ' subject of "Universal Brotherhood." The lecturer said that as our present state of society was the outcome of slow growtF, so the much-needed change must also bo expected to-take a long time before much difference could be made. As society is composed of the union of individuals, so the alteration of its_present condition can only come by individual This personal change must come from within, from the spiritual power of the Divine acting through each unit of .humanity.. The lecturer told us that the present state of industrial organisation; with its system of competitive action, was very far from satisfactory., being fit only for savages.,, while co-operation earned out in its entirety on spiritual lines or mutual.help would alter .the whole a spect of the civilised world. • • ' j ?or Children's Hacking Cougi at.
