The Timaru branch of the New Zealand Locomotive Engine-drivers', Firemen's and Cleaners' Association passed a resolution calling the attention of the Government 10 the unreasonable charges that are being made for the necessaries of life, and expressing, the opinion that the present crisis was being used_ by millers and merchants for their private enrichment. The resolution also deplores the inactivity of the Government in allowing such exploitation to take place, and calls upon tho Government i to fix maximum prices for all the common necessaries of life.
