TASMANIAN FRUIT FOR THE ARMY
FRUITGROWERS ALARMED.' Hobart, March 8. Fruitgrowers are alarmed l at the prospects of 'the Commonwealth commandeering for the carriage of meat vessels that are under contract to take fruit.
The State Treasurer, interrogated, stated that it would be improper to interfere with the Allies' foodstuffs; the defeat of the Allies would make the fruitgrowing of Tasmania, worth very little.
