SUMMARY AND FORECAST
Present indications are for northerly and westerly winds, increasing strong to a heavy gale, especially in and southward of Cook Strait, the barometer falling everywhere soon. The weather is likely to become much warmer for a short period in the East' Coast districts', but stormy conditions are- expected to follow, witli rain generally and heavy rain and flooded rivers in the West Oonet and southern districts of the South Island. Cold and showery weather prevailed on Saturday, with strong southerly winds, but conditions improved on Sunday, and the wind has changed to northerly sincc southwards of New Plymouth and Napier. High atmospheric pressure now prevails jn the north, but the barometer has fallen slowly in the southern districts sinco yesterday. 1). C BA'l'liS.
