BAIN INTERFERES WITH PLAY. The rain that fell oh Saturday afternoon may have been very welcome in cortainquarters, but it was not wanted by the bowlers, who would have liked to have tested the quality of the revivified greens, which looked like new velvet after the rainfall of the week. As it turned out, the afternoon was a mixture of sunshine and rain, in favour of the latter. Rain fell at 2 p.m., cleared at 2.45 p.m;, and just as the games had fairly started again down came the- rain again. Most of the set fixtures were abandoned. There were some games played later between 5 p.m.'and 6.30 p.m;, but those were only friendly rolls-up, most of the rinks formed for match play having loft the; club greens for the day.

SUBURBAN GAMES. In tho final -for the Lower Hutt Club's single championship, J. M. Dawson and Macaskill played off. At the 20th head the players were level, but Dawson scored one on the last head, thus securing the Wiiford 'Cup and the clutfs single championship. The final match for the President's Cup, between the-Hutt and Petone Bowling Clubs, took place on. the'Hutt green, and after an exciting and close game resulted in a win by the narrow margin of. 3 point® for the Hutt.
