NAPIER SHOOTING TRAGEDY

DEATH OF ONE OF THE PARTIES. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Napier, March 5. Walter Albert' West, who was shot four times by Alice May Parkinson (who attempted to commit suicide immediately afterwards) died at the Napier Hospital this afternoon without regaining consciousness. Deceased, who received three bullets in the head and one in the chest, was just, over 21 years of age. The cartridges used were .22 calibre, and one of the pellets was discovered, the patient's condition being too serious to permit of an operation. The tragedy occurred about seven o'clock on Tuesday night, and West lingered in an unconscious condition for 67J hours.

At 2.30 this afternoon the condition of the woman Parkinson was stated to be slightly improving. An inquest into the cause of tho death of West will be opened to-mor-row.
