Dormer Maunder have already been published. • Further letters have been received by her sister, who is resident in Auckland. Miss Maunder is a daughter of tlia late Mr. G«org&- Maunder, formerly of RangitiIrei. Early in October Miss Maunder organised a refuge for Belgians in. Oetend, and subsequently undertook the preparation of a hospital for wounded soldiers. When. Ostend was threatened by the Germans the hospital had to be abandoned, but on Christmas morning Miss Maunder opened a hospital in Rouen. She states that the Mayor and town of Rouen have given splendid asA large school was placed at her disposal, and it is now thoroughly equipped and known as the King ilbert Hospital, the work being under the direction of the College of Ambulance Humanitarian Corps. "Of all the difficulties I cannot now write," said Miss Maunder in a letter dated January 6. "I never have a. moment's relaxation nor wisli to until all is done that I can do. We have eighty wounded here now, with a staff of twenty. Another 100 bods are being got ready, and we shall have 200 in n week or two. I have received all the Belgian officials this morning. The military officials jiavo also just been in on their daily rounds. "We aro already sending out some of those who came in on Cfiri6tmas Day," Miss Maunder continues. "It is awful to be just making them strong and well to go out again, to bo shot down. Yet they are so brave and uncomplaining." ■ '
