Mr. J. A. Clarke, lately, with the mission in the Belgian Congo, in one of the remotest parts of Africa, delivered another lecture in the Gospel Hall, Vivian St. last night. Tho Btory ho had to tell of tho success of the civilising work done hy the missionaries was inspiring and highly interesting, Likewiso his account of . the simple heathen people who inhabit these unknown lands, their strange customs and beliefs, was full of interest. Mr. Clarke tells his stories with that simple, convincing 'directness not uncommon in men who are accustomed to be at grips with elemental naturo, however manifested, and by their simplicity bis stories loso none of their effect.
