THE ZOO.
Letters of thanks are to be forwarded by the City Council to the donors of the following presentations to the Zoo;,— One male goat, two pairs white-browed wood swallows, two pairs wliitenapcd honoyeaters, one ringtailed opposum (Miss Connie Gilkes, Lower Hutt), two female pile game bantams (Mr. Peat, Feilding), one hybrid wcka rail and common fowl (Mr. Peat,'Feilding), one blue penguin (Mr. Newliouse). It was reported at last night's meeting of the council that arrangements had been made to purchase, ill conjunction with the Wellington Zoo/Society, a pair of Zebu (Indian sacred oxen) for the 6um of £30, f.o.b. Sydney. With reference to the desire of the City Council to obtain from Australia a pair each of the various species of protected birds, a letter was read at last night's meeting of the council stating that the exportation of the birds would be permitted by the Commonwealth Government.
