Contrary to expectations , the final game nras not very interesting to. the large crowd which "watched, its progress. Routjoy, who had been playing a. very steady drawing game' throughout the _ day,, maintained lus form, but Ilunt did not pi ay nearly so well aa : he did in the semi-final* probably owing- to the iresponsibility nyhich had been cast on soyoung a .player. Eoutley did not indicate that he was at all nervons at any stage of the game, and drew veiy accurately, mostly on the fore-hand. The winner ' led off with a 4, and Hunt followed with a- 3. Then Eontley scored ■ a couple of singles, folJowed by a single from 'Hunt. TUuitley next got~a single, a two, and a; single in succession. On the ninth head' Hunt. got a throe, mating.the score 10—7, in favour of the' Kelburii man.; Hunt never succeeded' in getting closer: throughout the pamo. On the eleventh head an unfortunate incident occurred. The [jack was '(carried by a Hunt drive, and. just prior to falling into, the- ditch ran over the 'boundary line, fell on to the dried grass into the ditch, and, by a freak, rolled: back into the rink (in the ditch). The umpire (Mr. T. Bush) declared it.a live iaok, and the head was- played out,.Eoutley aooring three.. It was then, pointed out to the umpire by Mr; J.' J!. Eoberts (secretary of; the ; centre). that the jack, having Tolled out of the ditch, was out of ■ play, and the head was a dead one. Routley naturally held' that they should abide by the decision of. the umpire, but Mr. Bush pleadod : ignorance of the. rule (which was consulted), and the head was played ovy again. Eoutley storing a single. . stuck on the seven mark for five hf.;ds, whilst Eoutley piled on the points—lß—7. Hunt scored: two _ on the fifteenth and three on the twentieth Ibtead, but the four heads in between went to Eoutley.: The score on the twentieth head was 24—12. The last head was not played. At the conclusion of the game Mr.'lE. U. Hill (chairman of the centre) congratulated Eontley on the great game he had played and the highly meritorious win he had• achieved. -The win was all the more meritorious "as practically the Kelhara Club was without a green. The arm was not only an honour for Mr. Eontley, but was one for . the chib. He also paid Mr. Hunt a complimefit for the good play he had shown in .-attaining the iproud. position of - runner-up. K waa ireally nothing , to, be beaten by Mr. Boutley, who was a more experienced player, and doubtless the time was not far off ,when he (Mr.. Hunt) would be hailed as a cliampion.' Cheers were given for Mr. Eoutley, the Eelburn Club, and Mr. Hunt, yith the usual vocal accompaniment. "
■ THE EASTER TOURNAMENT. Tlw Centre's Pairs Tournament, to be played, at .Easter, is already interesting a number' of local bowlers, and in view of tho .object that is being benefited it is hoped, that there will be a record entry.'
