WELLINGTON ACCOUNTANT STUDENTS' SOCIETY

A very successful mock meeting cf shareholders was held by the Wellington Accountant Students' Society in the Lecture Hall, Accountants' Chambers, last night. The report of tho directors and the accounts of the Zealandia Engineering Col, Ltd., were presented to shareholders. The personnel of the officers of the oompany oonsisted of Mr. Ernest W. Hunt, chairman of • directors; directors, Messrs. J. L. Arcus, P. Auton, C. M. Bowden, and T. Anton; secretary. Mr.' W. C. Harrington; 'auditor. Mr. P. H..Bass. The accounts were drafted with, the express purpose of bringing out many of the leading points of company law, and the established principles of accountancy. 1 No point of any importance escaped the notice of the shareholders, who were not content until a valid and explicit _ reason for the items questioned were given by the directors.

Although several humorous aspects of the company's affairs were referred to. the discussion emphasised all the underlying principles in connection with the accounts of a company. _ ■ The motion for the adoption of the accounts was rejected by the shareholders. ■ .
