MILITARY CHAPLAIN APPOINTED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Christchurch, March 1. At the Methodist Conference on 'the question of the appointment of a Domillion secretary for foreign missions a most animated debate took place. The vote resulted in the proposal being postponed for another year. The Roy. W. Slade is the minister to be appointed. The conforenc, in committee on military affairs, recommended the Rev. W. Walker (Dunedin) for appointment as permanent military chaplain to the forces at Trentham, which was agreed to unanimously. , . The requests of the following ministers to bccomc permanent supernumeraries were granted:—-The Revs. G. Bond, T. G. Carr, Joseph Sharp, and Joseph J Mather, H. R. Dewsbury, and Cornelius Griffin. Tho Rev, Lewis Hudson returns to circuit work. The Rev. G. Bond presented the roport of the Homo Mission Committee, recomemnding tho continuance of the office of home mission secretary. . On a voto being taken, tho resolution was i carricd by 107 to 31.
