PATRIOTIC COMMITTEE
' The Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke), Messra» D. A. Ewcn, Jas. Macintosh, Wm. Ferguson, tho Hou. J. G. W. Aitken, and Smith (secretary) attended a meeting of ' the Wellington Citizens' Patriotic Committee, held yesterday. The necessary authority was given for the purchase of a set of brass band instruments for . the use of the camp's permanent band at Trentham. _It is clearly understood. that these mstru- ; meuts are not to leave the - precincts of the camp without the permission of the committee. The set is being obtained from the Bristol "Piano Company. - - - Motor conveyances have been £11" gaged at various times _to transport concert parties from Wellington to Trentham. The expense so_ incurred was authorised, and authority was . given for any further expense in. that direction. ' ~' . . , The committee has not .ost sight oi the fact that fresh fruit is always wel- ■ corned by the men under canvas, • siul ■ thanks to tho of Sir. ?>orman Kirkcaldie, of Levin (who contributes £5 a month), and others, / a good deal of fruit has been sent to; the cainp at various times, which has been a valuable adjunct to tjie.camp menu.
