FLEET BOMBARDING THE INNER FORTS.

PANIC IN CONSTANTINOPLE' • -j ~ ' . The war news to-day tells of a desperate fight for the Polish' town of Prasnysz, the .centre of the great battle which marked the decisive phase of the Russian counter-stroke, and the final surrender of the Germans who had retaken it after its previous capture by the ' Russians. The Russian offensive is now developing with great rapidity, and the German retreat in some places has become a disorderly ■ rout, wounded being abandoned. In the Dardanelles the Allied war- • ships, have advanced further into the Strait, and made further havoc of the Turkish forts which guard the long waterway to Constantinople. The news of tho bombardment has caused a great sensation in Egypt, where the prospect of any further attacks by the Turks is becoming . more and more remote. Djemal Pasha, the Turkish' Military Commander,.is said to be undergoing a court-martial for the failure of the Egyptian campaign, "an enterprise which, l it is alleged, was embarked upon at the instance of Enver Pasha, as a means of accomplishing the downfall of Djemal Pasha. "From the Western theatre come various progress reports, all. satisfactory, and also an inspiring story .of French adroitness, and gal'antry in a three-dayß' battle in Flanders, when they out-manoeuvred and out-fought the Germane. Of the sea, blockade there is little news, save that the Hamburg-Amerika liner Dacia, whioh was essaying a dash from New York to Germany with a cargo of supplies, has been captured by a French cruiser and taken to Brest, thus defeating the hopes of intriguers who were building upon • possible complications' in the event of the vessel's capture by the British. .
