THE ECONOMICAL MILES ON 7 GALLONS OP PETEOL. Last Friday, at 4.50, Mr. S. £. Stedman arrived at onr Christolmrch garage in his 10-°3-h.p. Humber Car from Dunedin. Mr" Stedman left Dunedin (where He is fttront for Humber Cars) on his annual business trip to Cbristchurch, ait G. 20 m and maintained an average fepeed throughout the journey of over 25 miles per hour. The Humber Car weighs 18cwt. fully equipped for the road, and has already done.over 11,000 miles without a mechanical stop. The petrol consumption was worked out carefully by Mr. 0. J. Wilson, of Invercargill, who accompanied Mr. Stedman, and it records 30 miles to a gallon. On a gallon of lubricating oil the Humber runs 1700 miles, and the running cost approximates three guineas for 1000 miles. Thaw are facts, proved and certified by Mr. IVilson.
