ORDER OF THE STAR IN THE EAST

A NEW HALL. On Tuesday evening the opening of a hall ,iu Woodward- Street for • lectures, classes, etc., in connection with the Order of the Star in the East drew a large attendance. The dedication of the room to the service of .humanity, in preparing the way for the coming of the .World Teacher brought to all - the recognition of His presence, and made the meeting a memorablo one to. all present. The reason for taking the' hall specially for the "Order" is the difficulty members of the publig_ have in understanding that membership of the "Order" does not imply membership of the Theosophical Society, and vice versa. Many people who do not care 'for .Theosophical teaching wish to join the "Order, and some who wish' to join the Theosophical Society are not in sympathy with the teaching of the Order of the Star, so in several of the larger towns the meetings are kept distinct. All are welcome to join either, and as there are weekly public meetings any one can attend and form their own opinion of the teaching given in the two halls. On Tuesday evening addresses were given by Miss Christie and Mr. Short on the text, "Except the Lord build the house they labour in vain that build it," taking it in the spiritual senfie. Suitable hymns vtere sung, and as usual the Lord's Prayer was intoned. ■
