A FLOUR CENSUS
PSICE OP OATMEAL TJP. Sydney, February 26. 'On the application of the SoKcitorGeneral (Mr. D. R. Hall) the Necessary Commodities Board has ordered -a return of all flour in the State held by bakers to be made at midnight oil, Saturday next. Mr. Hall stated that the problem was whether they had enough foodstuils to see them through till nest harvest. This could not be solved till he knew what flour the millers bad stored. .The Commodities Commission, in raising the of oatmeal, stated that the .advance in the price of oats since August amounted to 100' per dent. The present crop was estimated at four million bushels, compared with last year's crop of fourteen million bushels. The Commission recommended the following prices: Bulk plain oatmeal £28 65., bulk flaked £30 6s. (Rec. February 26, 10.40 p.m.)' Sydney, February 2K. The Labour Council's deputation protested that the Commodities Commission had failed to regulate prices 'in many instances, where regulation was urgently needed. . Mr. D. R. Hall (State Attorney-Gkm-eral) did not agree that there had beisn failure. Aa mass meeting under the auspices: of the Trades Hall Council, held to discuss the present price of foodstuffs, condemned the actions of the State Government and urged the immediate calling of Parliament. EXPORT OF MERINO WOOL. Melbourne, February 26. The Minister of Customs (Mr. Tudor) announces that export of merino wool to America will be allowed, provided it is consigned to the chairman of the Textile Alliance.
