PORT AUGUSTA .TO BRISBANE. Melbourne, February 26. The Federal Prime Minister (Mr. Andrew Fisher) stated that the proposed strategio railway would start at Port Augusta, and go almost direct to Brisbane. a distance of eleven hundred miles. He was emphatically of opinion that such railways . wore wanted. He said: "The more I investigate the matter the more convinced I'become that we would be failing in our duty.to Australia if we did not build such a line at the earliest opportunity.
