THE ECONOMICAL MOTOR-215 MILES ON 7 GALLONS OF PETBOL. \ Last Friday, at 4.50, Mr. S. B. Stedmaa arrived at our Christchurch garage in Ma 10-23-h.p. Humber Car from Dunedin. Mr, Stedman left Dunedin (where he' ig agent for Humber Cars) on his annual business trip to Chriitchurch, at £L2O a.m'., and maintained an average speed throughout the journey of over 25 milos per hour. The Humber Car weighs 18cwt. fully equipped for the road, and has already done over 11,000 miles without a> meohanica' stop. The petrol cons-amp. tion was worked out carefully by Mr. O. J. Wilson, of Inwrcargill, who accorapaniod Mr. Stedman, and it records 30 miles to a gallon. On a gallon of lubricating oil the Humber runs 1700 miles, and the running cost approximates three guineas for 1000 miles. These are facte, proved and certified by Mr. Wilstm.
