£18 PER TON
1 PRICE OF FLOUR STILL SOARING. ' It is-reported that Wellington bakers have paid as high as £18 per ton. for 9ouredelivered at the bakehouse. Such a price has not been realised for many a year in this part of the world, and it is hardly likely that the combination of circumstances which has brought about'such, enhanced prices will readily occur again. ' The master bakers of Wellington, have decided to charge sd. per 21b. loaf as from Monday next. .Whilst this tall price would probably be a perfectly fair one were all the bakers paying £18 per ton for flour, there are still bakers in Wellington in receipt of con'tract flour at very much under 'the price inentionel, who by getting sd. per loaf will reap a golden harvest; Thereare, for example, /over 600 tons of Canadian flour, for Wellington on the Hornelen (from Vancouver) now at Auckland, which will oost the bakers who ordered some' four months ago ' approximately £15 per ton landed. .
