ACKNOWLEDGMENT FROM LONDON. The Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke) has received the following letter , from Mr. Ksnnaway (secretary to, the High Commissioner) in acknowledgment of the money forwarded as the result of the Guy Fawkes Day effort of tlio children of Wellington for the relief of the distressed children of Beldium: — "In the . absence of the High Commissioner I have opened your letter of November 20 covering. draft for £700; being money collected by the children of file Wellington City and Provincial District on Guy Fawkes Day, remitted for the relief of Belgian children who may be in distress owing to the war. I am sure the Hon. T. Mackenzie will be only too pleased to accedo to your request to distribute the moue.v in special cases t'liat may cotno under his notice, and after the total amount has been disbursed I shall have pleasure in - sending you a complete statement showing what has-been done."
