INCOME TAX BILL IN WEST AUSTRALIA TOLL ON AMUSEMENTS. Perth, February 24, In the Assembly the Premier (Mr. Scaddan) has introduced a Specajl Income Tax Bill for 1915, from which he expects to derive • £200)000. The Bill reduces the exemption from £200 to £156. All • amusements must contribute one-twelfth of the total receipts. "CRUSTED TORIES" , QUEENSLAND CABINET. ; Brisbane, February 23. The Hon. J. G. Appel, Home Secretary) has resigned from the Cabinet. (Rec. February 24, 8.25 p.m.) Brisbane, February 24. Recently, addressing the electors, Mr. Appel said that he had never tried to please "old, crusted Tories." If these crusted Tories thought .they were going to displace him they had a tough proposition. Mr. Appel now states that the Premier (Mr. Deiiliam) took exception to these statements. He had realised for some time that there had been a lack of.support from the Premier to himself. The poaition had become intolerable, and there was nothing to do but resign. LOST RADIUM TUBES RECOVERED. Melbourne; February 23. Two tubes of radium, valued at £500, were inadvertently thrown out with disused bandages from the Hospital and sent to the destructor. A radium expert submitted the ashes from the destructor to the electroscope, and recovered the . tubes, which were undamaged,, despite the great heat of the destructor : BRITISH BY-ELECTION. (R-ec.
