THE ECONOMICAL MOTOR-215 MILES ON 7 QALLONS OF PETROL. Last Friday, at 4.50, Mr. S. E. Stedman arrived at our Christchurch garage in his 10-23-h.p. Humber Car from Dunedin. Mr. Stedman left Dunedin (where he is agent for Humber Cars) on his annual business trip to Cbristchurch, at 6.20 a.m., and maintained an average speed' throughout the journey of over 25 ratios < per hour., The Humber Car weighs 18cwt. fully equipped for the road, and has already dose over 11,000 miles without a mechanical stop. Tho petrol consumption fras worked out carefully by Mr. O. ,T. Wilson, of Inverc&rgill, who acoompanied Mr. Stedman, and it records 30 miles to a gallon. On a gallon of lubricating oil the" Humber nIM 1700 miles, and the running cost approximates throe guineas for 1000 miles. These oro facta, proved and certified by Mr. Wilson. Thero is no need to say more. Mr. Stedntan is now at our garage, with ,the car that did the trip, and , will be pleased to give trial trip 6.
