MONTHLY MEETING. _ . ■ . .The monthly meeting of the Wellington Education Board was held in the board's office yesterday afternoon.' The Hon. J. 6. W. Aitken presided^. .and there were present Messrs. ■A. W'. Hogg, C. M. Luke, H. Freeman, J. Kebble, W. H. Field, T. Moss, and Sir Walter' Buchanan. ': > ■

- It was .decided to reply to a request from, Koputaroa that 'the board did not think it advisable to_ raise : the sideschool from the Third Standard at Ihakara. The chairman pointed out that the other school was only Jialf a mile away, and'there was no need' for two so ciose together. ■■■" _ ' " It was decided that, a conference should be held oj representatives of the districts affected by the establishment of a new, district for the Britomart Street School. ' . _ • . . A report was received from the inspector to the effect that the time was~ not yet ripe' for the board to undertake manual and technical instruction at Upper Hutt. The following resignations were accepted:—Miss H. A. Temple, assistant, Khandallah, February 28; Mrs. F. M." Proctor, relieving sole teacher, Tauherenikau, February 28; Miss Pattle; sole teacher. Normandale, February 28; Mrs. Williams,' sole teacher, Wliakataki. March 31; Miss I. Wallace, relieving:, sole teacher, Manma, February 18- Miss W. V. Thompson, assistant.
