CANADIAN WHEAT
SECOND CONSIGNMENT ARRIVES. (By IWecwjili —Vre<« A»«o«laHoj)' Auckland, February 23. The second consignment of Canadian wheat, consisting of one hundred thousand bushels, ordered by tho Government froni Canada, arrived at Auckland to-day by tho steamer Hornelen from Vancouver. Half the wheat- will b® discharged here, the balance being taken to "Wellington. Referring to the fact that the Hornelen, the last of the wheat ships for New Zealand, liad arrived at Auckland, with 100,000 bushels of wheat on board, the Prime Minister (the Uight Hon. W. IVMassey) yesterday stated that it was evident the position was better than it had been for some time past. He added that it was interesting to note that the 400,000 bushels which had arrived in New Zealand during the past few days were worth at least 9d. per bushel more to-day than tlioy. were when purchased, a saving to New Zestland of at least £15,000.
