MEN'S THIRD GRADE. • ' Newtown defeated .Victoria College by '1 sets to 2. CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING FOR WELLINGTON. At a meeting of tie Management Committee of tiie New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association the nest New Zealand' Championship Meeting was allotted to Wellington, provided that suitable grounds, eto., can be arranged. The question of the adoption of the ball for the meeting was considered, and it was decided that Slazenger's ball should be adopted, provided that satisfactory ar-' rangements as to indent supplies for clubs can be made. . The preliminary statement of accounts of the championship meeting held at Bunedin was referred to a special committee, consisting of Messrs. Henderson and Spiisbury,: for inspection and report. The affiliated associations, it was resolved, should be requested to favourably consider the advisability of encouraging schoolboy and schoolgirl championships in their association programmes, with the suggestion that the hnals may be played m some centre agreed upon by. the various associations. Several tournaments approved by the sub-committee • were confirmed. The resignation was handed in of Mr. P. E/Wliite-Pareons, who has been transferred to Christchurch. It was received with regret, and a Tecord of his services was placed on the minute-book. Mr. E. Salmond was appointed to the vacant seat on the oommittee.
DAVIS CUP PROCEEDS. A cheque of £300 has been received by the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association from the Australasian Association, as the New Zealand body's 6hare of the £4186 received by the Australasian Association-from tne proceeds of the Davis Cup matches played in Canada and the TJnited States; Ine Australian body decided to distribute £2100 of the £4186 amongst its affiliated associations, and forwarded the £300 to the New Zealand' Association. The question arises now as to the legality of the distribution, and the Management Committee of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association has notified its Australasian delegates to- ask under what regulations the distribution was made.
