The- annual meeting of tlie Napier Thirty Thousand Club was held last night. The report showed that during the year the club had donated £200 towards the cost of lighting the Marino Parade, and the Mardi Graa had resulted in a profit of £552 lis. 6d. The following officers were elected: —Patron, 1 Mr. J. H. Coleman; president, Mr.'J. Vigor Brown, M.P.; treasurer, Mr.-R. L.Paterson;, secretary, Mr. fi. Latham. At the Napier Court.to-day three ice cream vendors were each fined ss.,:with 30s. costs, for selling ice creams not containing the proper percentage of butter fat. The Hastings Belgian Relief Fund now amounts to over £3000. • The Hawko's Bay Soap and Tannery Company, whose works wero destroyed by fire a week , ago, have announced their intention of rebuilding on the old site, new capital having been introduced into the company.
