Acceptances for the -Wanganui Jockey Club's Autumn Meeting close to-night. . Handicaps for tho Nelson meeting are due to-day.
J. H. Prosser took Belasco, Goldstream, and the hurdler Naupata to Wanganui on Saturday last. . The veteran Riccarton trainer, E. Cutts, •is at. present confined to his bed. He left for the south last Saturday week in charge of four of Sir George Clifford's horses, which were to race at the Dunedin Jockey Club's meeting last week, but on Tuesday he had a seizure, losing the use of'his right arm and leg. On Wednesday he was present at Wingafmi, witnessing the first four races, but it was deemed advisable to get him home as soon as possible. He returned to Christchurch by the first express on Thursday, and on arriving at his home at Riccarton he was seen by his medical adviser. An examination 'showed that he had had a slight paralytic stroke, but his condition was not considered serious. However, another stroke overtook him, and he has not been so well the last two days.
As the result of lier victory in the Hazlett Memorial, Plate oil Thursday, Warst-ep established a fresh Dominion stake-earning record for any horse in one season. Her total now stands at £4650, which is £60 more than Reputation's winnings, and makes her earnings since the commencement of her career £7570. At tho Rosebery pony meeting, Sydney, 1 this month, the Fourteen-two Handicap was won bv Lalla, a sister to tho Auckland mare Tripoli, by Obligado— Cyrenaica. Lalla was formerly in It. J. Mason's stablos, but as slio did not grow in tho way expected he parted with her to the Sydney owner ; Mr. H. Conlon, who was then on a visit to New Zealand. Tho Glenapp—Argon mare Troon has changed hands, Mr. H. A. Knight having sold lier, to Mr. J. Biggins. The price was said to bo £100. A southern writer says:—"lt is qnite on the cards that the Porirua trainer, J. H. Pressor, will tako a toam to Australia in the near future. If the trip eventuates tlio horses to go will be Pavlova, Gold Sonlt, Coldstream, and a couplo of hurdlers." The Waipukurau Jockey Club has in contemplation the preparation of a training track on their course at Waipukurau. A recommendation was_ made at the annual meeting that the incoming committee have estimates prepared for the construction and upkeep of a training track. Largesse, the mare purchased by Mr. G. F, Moore at Hawera recently, is the dam of Ngapoto, ajid is certain in foal to Maniapoto (Soult —Lady Fisher). She is exceedingly well-bred, being by Seaton Delaval (son of Melton) from Keepsake, by St. Leger from Bangle. Mares of Melton descent are proving very successful in England at the present time, and on this account Largesse might before long prove to be worth vary much more than the price at which sho recently changed hands. . The English horse Hallowmas is being "noil patronised, and advice from Bushy Park states that there are only two spaces left on his list for the next season. Flash of Steel, winner of the Oanlfield Futurity Stakes, is an imported English thoroughbred, owned by the Anglo-Aus-tralian sportsmen, Messrs. Clark and Robinson, who won the Melbourne Cup with The Victory, several"big handicaps in England with ■ The Grafter, and several weight-for-age races in Australia with Eudorus', another importation. Imported horses have figured largely in the Caulfield Futurity Stakes in recent years, : and amongst the winners of that event may he mentioned Playaway, Sir Foote, and Eudorus. A reminder is given those..concerned that nominations for all events at the Masterton Racing Club's Autumn Meet ing close on Friday next at 10 p.m.
