MAGISTRATE'S COURT
POLICE CASES Mr. D. G. A. Cooper, S.M., presided over a sitting cf the police business of the Magistrate's Court yesterday morning Margaret Williams waa fined 10s., in default 40 hours' imprisonment, for drunkenness, and on a charge of being a rogue and a vagabond,, in that she had insufficient lawful means of support, she was remanded to Monday, so that inquiries might be made as to her being sent to a home. Lucy Mitchell was convicted and discharged for drunkenness, and remanded to February 25 on a charge of being idle and disorderly. Goorge Keenan was fined 10s., in default 48 hours' imprisonment, for drunkenness, and fined 405., in default seven days' gaol for resisting Constable Sheahon. - For drunkenness, Mary. Harding was sent to gaol for a month, Margaret Irving fined £3, in default one month's gaol, Peter Hughes fined 405., in default seven days' gaol, olid Susan M'Laughliu fined 10s., in default 48 hours' imprisonment. ' Five first offending inebriates were dealt with. • CIVIL BUSINESS. A' civil case concerning disputed professional fees was heard before Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M., Fleming.lkiss, public accountant, claiming from Eli Andrew Dahl;£l9 3s. in this respect. After hearing .the evidence the Magistrate gave judgment for plaintiff for: £16, less £8 Is. paid into court. Costs amounting to £2 10s. were allowed. Mr. E. O. Leary appeared for'plaintiff and Mr. A. Dunn for defondant.
