At th® Master Plumbers' Conference, tho following Temits wore keenly discussed:— • - Ro-registration of Plumbers.—! All men fortv years and over to be registered by tho board, provided they ha've been,'and are, actively engaged as sanitary plumbers for ten.years prior to the Act coming into force";— Carried unanimously.

: Probationers' -Plumbers. —The /board to make provision to enable apprentices who. have : served six years at the trade, and. failed to'pass, to receive provisional reristration-for twelve months for .executing sanitary work.—Carried by 11 votes to 10.' - • ■ -.

The following resolutions were also carried:—"That the provisions of . the Lien-Act shall apply to all Government contracts ;-,'th'at .there be' a universal' basis for the reading of the Registration Act:, regarding • the; scope of registered pifimbo.rs' work. regard to the question of joining .tli<# New.. Zealand Employers' Federation it was decided to pay the fee of affiliation: The decision was not unanimous.'

Mr. TV. Downie Stewart, M.P.,. was present during the discussion oh the Lien Act. It was resolved that the Government bo urged to amend the' Act with a ..view to .more effectively "protecting. sub-oontractors for the payment of contract-moneys.

It was • decided' that the executive take''steps - to; reauest the Government .to revise the-tariff where it affects the plumbing trade in accordance with a request from Auckland.

• A general discussion took place on fch© position of apprentices as regards the Plumbers' 'Registration Act. tie point being, :Mjv A. Burt said, that no one but a registered plumber was: allowed to do any sanitery work. The concensus, of opinion was against any interference with tho Act-, and no proposal was brought forward. A, discussion also took place on the working of the Plumbers' Registration Act in various districts,. and the following motion was carried: "That our representative be requested to ask at the nest meeting of the board to have an amendment of the Act made to deal with unregistered plumbers doing sanitarywork. ■---v-
