CITY AFFAIRS

MEETING OF THE COUNCIL. The Wellington City Council met last night. The Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke) presided, and there were present also Councillors R. Fletcher, J. E. ■ Fitzgerald, A. H. Hindmarsh, M. F. Luckie, L. M'Kenzie, A. R. Atkinson, J. Godber, G. Frost, R. A. Wright. It was decided that the owners 1 of Aorangi Terrace should be informed that the council will bo prepared to take over the street and plantation, including the one foot reserve, on payment of the sum of £200 for tho' upkeep and maintenance for all time. The one foot reserve is to be kept as a reserve and not thrown into the street. The New Zealand Picture Supplies, Ltd.,' who have in the past paid their electricity accounts weekly, are to be granted a rebate of £104 35., to enable them to obtain the same discount as though accounts had been paid monthly.
