MEETING OF THE COUNCIL. . At last night's meeting of the Victoria College Council, there were present: Mi-. H. H. Ostler (chairman), Sir Robert Stout, the Hoii. J. G. W. Aitkeu, M.L.C., Dr. Prendergast Knight, Dr. Hector, Messrs. R. M'Calluih, M.P., C. B. Morison, K.C., W. H. Morton, C. Watson, A. R. Atkinson. T. R. Fleming, Wm. Ferguson, and, tho Rev. W.'A. Evans. As to the proposed earlier date for the Medical Intermediate Examination now held in November, the Finance and General Purposes Committee 'recommended that the letter of the Registrar of the University bo referred' to the Professorial Board. The recommendation was agreed to. It was decided that the agreataent, signed by tho newly-appointed Professor of Mathematics (Dr. Sommerville, of St. Andrews), and forwarded by the High Commissioner, be executed by the council under seal. . Regarding the letter from Mr. MereIth Atkinson, Director of Tutorial Classes at the University of Sydney, it •as decided, on the. recommendation of the Finance and General Purposes Committee. that the members of the council resident in 'Wellington be a committee to meet Mr. Atkinson at the college at 5 p.m. on March 8. A letter from tho Registrar, of the , University regarding application to tho Senate for part ol the special grant provided by the University Amendment Act was before the council,, and was.considersd in cornmittco at tho clos© of the other business. _ : - . Accounts amounting to £»o5 m. Jq. were passed for payment.
