PLUMBERS' CONFERENCE
REMITS CARRIED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) . Dunedln, February 17. At the plumbers' conference to-night tho following remits (amendments embodied) wero carried:— "That it is necessary for a universal standardisation of the sanitary plumbing by-laws for the Dominion." ■ "That the Plumbers' Board bo requested to hold at least two examinations for plumbers in cach year." Plans and Specifications.—(a) That specifications for' new work bo set out undor "plumbing work," otherwise it shall uot be included in the estimate, (b) Flushings shall be dearly specified and shown'on plans. _ (c) Details of work to bo supplied with the first issue of plans, or the valu.o to be estimated, (d) Drainage plans complete in every detail to be submitted with the general plan, (f) All material specified under "plumbing" and purchased other than from the plumber conccrned, he must bo allowed not less than 10 per cent, on fcho total cost of same." . With regard to A, B, C. D, E, and F, it was decided that the New Zealand Institute of Architects be asked for their co-operation in all these matters. , ■ "That in the interest of our trade it is unfair competition for local authorities to competo against us." "That.tenders bo called for by public tender on all plumbing for public \vork9 where possible." "That 011 all day work executed for fche Public Works Department in connection with the plumbing trado tho Department allow at tho rate of not less than 25 per cent. 011 labour award rates, and not. less than .10 per cent, oh tho wholesale cost of material. A remit from Wellington: "That in fcho next award the federation request 0110 bov to each journeyman," was adjourned till next year's conference.
