NURSES FOR THE FRONT

CONDITIONS OF SERVICE. • One of the nurses selected from Dunedin to go with the contingent for service under the AVar Office will not be allowed to go for the reason that she is two years above the prescribed age. The nurso to go in hor place has not yet been selected. It is improbable that tlio nurses will bo required to undergo any period of special training in Now Zealand before they leave. How and when they will leave has not yet been decided. They may so with the next draft of reinforcements, or they may go as passengers in an ordinary steamer. Sister Nurse, at present in charge of tho Sainoan military hospital, will so as matrou, and Hiss H. Maclean, Matron-in-Chief of the New Zealand Army Nursing Service, will go to England in charge of the contingent, .returning again to New Zealand. Ten of the nurses will take the rank of Sister. All members of the contingent will have the same status us officers of the .New Zealand Expeditionary Force, and their term of service will be until the end of the war, or unti) they return to Now Zealand. The matron in charge is to receive ;Gl5O per year, Ihe sisters £120, and nurses £100. Every member of the contingent will receive her outfit free, and where meals and residence are not provided, will be given an allowance of 3s. Cd. per day.
