rBT CrtBNCOB.I There will be racing at Dunedin and Wcodvillo to-day and to-morrow. The - Victoria Amateur Turf. Club's meeting wil be concluded at Caulfield on Saturday next. ■ > la the Champagne Stakes at the Dunedin meeting today Sir Geo. Clifford has two representatives 'in Adjutant and Gtwanbrae, Recorder will represent. Mr. G. L. Stead. Snub Mr. C. G. Dalgety, and Bonsign Mr. J. H. Prosser. Adjutant has a 131b. penalty, but the others meet on even terms. Gowanbrae has the reputation of being very fast, but in her only start a.t Riccarton ehe ran very "green," and could, not act- on the straight course. She may do better round a curve at i Wingaltui, which will be going similar to the training tracks at Riccarton. ■ Sunloch, the winner of last year's English G.N. Steeplechase, was given a race in ithe Sandown Handicap Steeplechase on December 10. He was very little fannied, however, but in a veritable sea of mud he contrived to play second fiddle to Rod Coil, who started second favourite. ' Rewanga, winner of ithe Maiden Scurry on the opening day of the Gisborne meeting, is a tliree-vear-old g-rey filly by Marble Arch—Tauhei." She is a halfsister to Mira, lranui, Hirini, Ruapani, Waiorewa, and other performers., Rewanga is the first grey sired by Marble Arch. Mr. 3?. Hall bred a full sister a year younger. R, O'Donneli has booked accommodaition at Wanganui for Sauci and Bonny Rigg. His'other horses' Dinner' Gong and Recorder have gone south in charge of tho head lad. The Karamu-trained Hymettius, winner of the Welesley Stakes last season, will be a runner in <the Telephone Handicap at Woodville to-day. Considering his great pace over short courses the bay gelding will no doubt be well fancied. Zetes, who showed a partiality for a distance ait the Egmoht meeting, where he ran second to Bertrada, will be a rurner in the Woodvile Cup to-day. There are several unknown quantifies racing in the Maiden Plate at Woodville to-day. Of tho eighteen carded Thoughtful, Gold Rush, and Martyress are tho most seasoned. It is not a strong field that is down to oontc-st the Woodville Cup to-day, and on atual performances Marshal Macdonald stands out from the others, but the Soult colt is anything but reliable lately, and his owner intends to geld him after the racing season. Orleans, who has been winning regularly of late, will be trying to get a distance for the first time, bat he is not likely (to want for supporters. Zens is engaged in two races at Woodville to-day," but the Martian gelding is likely to start in the Telephone Handicap only. Tho acceptances for the South Auckland moetiiig this week are not/very encouraging. In four of the events there are three acceptors, and in another race , onlv ,two have paid up. Jason, who was sold some time back to' an Otago sportsman, is by Achilles— Stepina, and as a : two-year-old his trainer thought very highly of him, but ho was ' continually going wrong, and thougn given several lengthy spells, ho could not be got to stand training, and Mr. E. J. Watt then ported with. him. He is now trained by D. Wilson at Wingatui and will be a runner in the Publicans Handicap to-day. In. the Dunedin Cup to-day the public chcice may go in the following order Warstep (F. E. Jones). First Glance (J. Beale), Ogier (B. Deeley), United Servioe (A. H. Wilson), Snapdragon (W. Bell), and Specialfom (R. Berry). In the Stewards' Welter at Wingatui today the runners include Scotch. Melody, who finished within a neck of Ogier.in the Post Handicap at Riccarton, after getting badly left at the start. A Melbourne paper reports that it cost '£50 each to nominate Woorak, Land of Song, Gigandra, and Plash of Steel m the Caulfield Futurity Stakes.
