Mr. George Foreman's residence at "Pukunui," Te Wharau, was completely destroyed by fire on Sunday night. Nqthing was saved. There was an insurance of £60 on the house, and £20 on the furniture in the Phoenix office. The :'Wairarapa South County Council has accepted the tender of ,W. Hansen; at 2s. 9d. per cubic yan}, for 800 yards of metal on Tupurupuru Road. W. A. Reeve was the successful tenderer for of 1700 cubic yards on the saiS'iv road at 2s. lid. per lard.
