Tho Hon. A. L. Hardmsm, Minister 911 charge of the Government Printing Office, attended the annual picnic of the Printing Office employees at Maidstone Park yesterday. ( The Hon. R. H. Rhodes returned from a brief visit to Canterbury yesterday morning, - Among the passengers from Sydney by the Ulimaroa last evening was Mr. Thomas Dibbs. who occupies •a unique position in banking circles ill Australia, having been general manager of the Commercial Banking Company, of Sydney, since the year 1867. The visitor, who is now in his 83rd year, .was bom in Sydney, and joined the bank of which he has for so long been the head in 1847. Mr. Dibbs is accompanied by his wife and daughter (Miss Dibbs). ' Mr. A. A. Corrigan, of Wellington, who has been on, a visit to England and 'America, and was at Nieuport during the severe fighting there a couple of months ago, arrived in Auckland on Monday. The members of "Tho Glad Eyo" Company rarrived from Sydney by tho Ulimaroa last evening, Mr. John Angus, son of Mr. James Angus, of the Minchenbury Vineyards, Rooty Hill, New South Wales, was among the passengers to arrive from Sydney by the Ulimaroa last .evening. The brethren of the Oddfellows' Order in the Wanganui district have decided to present Bro. I. Salek, of Wellington, formerly, a resident of Wanganui, with a handsome piece of plate, in appreciation of his many years, invaluable services as corresponding secretary. The gift, which is being ordered from Home, will be presented to Bro. Salek in one of the Wellington lodges, as soon as an opportunity offers. Mr. Albert E. Nash, general manager for Australasii for Messrs, Walker and Hall, is to be entertained by the Wellington Pickwick Club (of which he is a vice-president) at the Grand Hotel this morning.
