WINGATUI TRACK WORK. (By Meeroph.—Press Association.) Dunedin, February 15. The weather was decidedly wintry at Wingatui this morning. All tho horses worked on the middle of the course proper, and in good firm going. Adjutant and Gowanbrae ran fivo furlongs in lmin. 8 2-ssec. Snapdragon, with the assistance of Don Francisco over the last mile, did a good working gallop over 12 furlongs in 2min. 51sec.
Dinner Gong did steady work, and Bim strode over a half-pace task. Trilby picked up Jeannot, and led him home at the end of five furlongs in lmin. 7 l-ssec., the last half-mile in sAsec. Specialform and John Barleycorn were put together over a mile, and comfortably recorded lmin. 51 Msec. Both finished well, but the mare looked more like going on. Ngatiranui and Varanian ran seven furlongs in lmin. 38 2-ssec. Reval began as soon as he reached the track and striding round to the six-fur-long post came home from there in lmin. 22sec. ' ,
Warstep began at the mile, and, picking up Snnb after a quarter of a mile, covered her task in lmin. 49 4-ssec, the last six furlongs in lmin. 2-lsec. The Cup mare looks well, and strode out freely. Snub shaped pleasingly, but no attempt is made to guess the weights carried. .
Glenowl and Este, the former going well under a pull, ran six fnrlongs in lmin. 26 2-ssec. Scotch Melody covered the same ground in lmin. 22 l-ssec. Gapon cantered, and Trireme and Moonglow ran half a mile in 53sec., the firstnamed going well. Peg, with Charrailla assisting her over the last six furlongs, ran a mile in lmin. 49 4-ssec., the last six furlongs in lmin. 25sec. The Cup candidate went her first half in 52sec., and did not finish too well as a result. .Golden Rupee was too good for Cortes over six furlongs, in lmin. 24 l-ssec. Bellshire and Bonsign ran half a mile in 52 l-5.;ec..
Redown cantered after an interval, during which the high wind died down a hit. Princess Flo, Salzburg, Volspiel, St. Brigid, Gnome, Cnstiron, and Glenfern did steady work.
Ardenvoter cantered and then ran half a mile in 55 l-ssec. Marsa covered the same ground in 53 2-ssec. I Kilts hung when beginning five furlongs with Golden King, and later lod him several lengths in lmin. 8 d-sseo. _ Miss Finland travelled well when going five furlongs in lmin. 9 4-ssec., which Sartorze reduced to lmin. 9 1-osec., alro going comfortably. _ , 'Jlarvelite'sprinted five fnrlongs in lmin. B 3-ssee.
. first Glance picked up Moddite after going three furlongs, ana ran out a mile in lmin. 49 3-ssec. The mare shaded pleasingly, and Moddite travelled with more freedom than usual.
Pender was going from Cartburn at the end of half a tuilo, run in 56scc. Sea, Maid was always going better than Quirinns whilst negotiating seven furlongs in lmin. S9sec. Lady Grafton got several lengths the best of a break-away at the seven-furlong mark, with Peerless and Wild Pilgrim. The two latter ran lmin. 36 2-sscc., and the mare six furlongs in lmin. 23 2-ssec. Andrea, Salathiel, and' Commotion did a useful gallop. Petrosus covered five furlongs in lmin. 7 2-ssec. .
Optician unseated his rider at the first hurdle when going for a school with Hatana, but jumped well on being Temounted.
Ladrone raji six furlongs in lmin.-23sec. Chudic covered the same ground in lmin. 20 l-ssec., the last five furlongs being run in ' lmin. 7 l-ssec. Ogier ran ten furlongs in 2min: 22 2-5 sec.
United Service worked at a fairly sound pace over a mile and a half, Teviotdale travelled five furlongs in lmin. 8 2-ssec., and Forminal sprinted half a mile along the track in 55sec., and. was then pulled
up. - . Meltchikoff just broke SSsec., and Russo, Coroniform, Helicon, Officious, and ono or two others got through unimportant tasks.
WAHURAPA TROTTING CLUB. The annua] meeting of tie South Wairarapa Trotting Club was held on Saturday night, when the report and bal-anoe-sheec were read and adopted. All the officers of last year were re-elected. Mr. W. W. Bicknell was elected treasurer.' The stakes will be ,£SOO, as last year. , . . ■ During the year great improvements vrere mado on the course. .Twenty-fiv'e pounds were voted to the Belgian Fund. The club have a' credit balance of .£lll, and propose doing more improvements before next races.
