AK OFFER BY PRODUCERS' ASSOCIATION.
(By r Mtsrrapli—AfenciatJan.) Invercargill, February 12. Mr. H. G. Hill, general manager in New Zealand for the Bristol and Dominion Producers' Association, who is at present on a'visit to Invercargill, tonight sent" the following telegram to the Prime Minister at Auckland:—"Referring to your statement sent through the •Press Association last night from Auckland, I presume the 6teamer you refer to is the Suffolk Surprised freezing companies refused your offer, but still further surprised you have let matters rest there. Do the freezing companies own all tho meat in the Dominion? Has the producer, independent of the freezing companies; no right to consideration alld must his stock stop on his farm because he has not been offered freight at an additional drilling per carcass? If the steamer is the Suffolk, you knew we were anxious for her to come here, and personally I consider you should have made me th 4 same offer as you : did. to tho-freezing companies, especially when they declined. Speaking without the knowledge of my board, I am certain the Bristol and Dominion Producers'' Association would accept your offer to pay £5000, the Government paying £5000, thus enabling the steamer to come to New Zealand in ballast, and will further undertake, to load ; the steamer at as many ports as possible in the Dominion, so as to spread the Telief to the various freezing works. I shall bo obliged if you will wire me position.".
