ACCUSED DESERTS HIS SURETIES. (By Telegraph—Press .Association> Auckland, February., 12. Patrick Qninn, 19 years old, charged with theft and arson at Rawene, failed to appear at the Supreme Court, though on bail for two sureties of £250 each, provided by his father, John Gunn, and his brother-in-law, • William Robert O'Brien, of Auckland. Accused vanished before the case was called on Tuesday, and a diligent search failed to reveal his. whereabouts. The Judge said that ho was satisfied that the sureties had done everything reasonable to produce the accused, and under tho circumstances would not estreat their recognisances and inflict such serious loss upon them.
