SUBSTANTIAL PENALTIES (Rec. February 12, 8.10 p.m.) Melbourne, February 12. George Loruner, merchant/ ; was fined £25, and James Railton, seed merchant, £250, for attempting to trade with the enemy. The Bench announced' that it will make an'.impression on future culprits.
ANOTHER FIRM FOUND GUILTY. (Rec. February 12, 10.30 p.m.) 1 , Sydney, February 12. . Bleumenthal, Limited, were found guilty of trading with the enemy by meaus of letters. and orders, addressed to Hamburg. : Penalty has been postponed until the conclusion of other cases. ACCUSED COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. Adelaide, February 12. At the preliminary hearing of the charge against Snow for trading with the enemy, the accused was committed for trial. Bail was granted in two sureties of £1000 each, and a personal bond of a like amount. - *
