THE "HEALTH OF THE MEN. FoDowiing are extracts from s tho war diary of ;..'tho Samoan Expeditionary Foi'ce 18 to January 14: "During,!the period there has been a marked'defcrease in the number of cases of -dehguei fever. 1 This may be . accounted for by the universal use of mosquito curtains', and the. prompt removal of cases to hospital. There has also been a decufease in'the number,of cases of diarrhoea and dysentery. There has been an increase in the number of ear cases,' buti they are mostly of a minor nature.- Only'one has been admitted to the base ' hospital. The • number of cases requiring treatment for eye 'complaints hais ! aißo declined considerably. Base Hospital.—The average daily number'of in-patients has been 21. Anti-Typioid Vaccination.—Practically the whole force has now been vaccinated for the second time. The few men who previously had objections to vaccination r havei had these overcome by the tact of tbie medical officers. ' Medical Inspection of Troops.—Every member of ; the force has been examined •during theslast week by 'the medical and dental offioers, and the men are in excellent condition. The training of the Ambulsince i Corps has .been r coniinued.
