The crescent of Turkey, which before long may disappear from the list of national badges, has a curious pedigree. Tho old Byzantine Empire used a crescent and a star, and the star was sophisticated by tho Crusaders into a Cross. The star is supposed to be the star of Bethelohem: the crescent tho "inconstant moon." Tho Osmank Turks found the crescent at Constantinople ready for them, bnt thoy put it over tho cross or star. All started off with a cough! cough! cough! When the creek flooded into our home, With a rush and a roar, it burst each door, And swirled around the floors in foam. Wonderful to say, we're all alive to-day, And grateful to so happily endure, I'm sure we'd have died if we'd not been, supplied Wdth Wood*' Great &wiv<mint Cute. -Aivt..
