MAORI SOLDIERS
THE HEALTH OP THE CAMP. (By Teleerepli.—Press Association.) Auokland, February 10. . The Maori youth named Roera, who died in. the hospital on Monday last, was not a member of the Maori Contingent in oamp here, as incorrectly reported hy' the morning papers, but a schoolboy from the Three Kings, living at Orakei. Since the Maori camp began the genoral health of the men has been remarkably goo,d. Some three or four cases of typhoid occurred, none with serious consequences. All tho men in camp have been inoculated, and every precaution taken against infectious disease, particularly -with new arrivals from the country districts.
■ The Press Association telegram from Auckland published yesterday morning stated that an outbreak of typhoid bad occurred among the Maoris in the military" camp at Avondale, and that one death had been reported. The Hon. James Allen, Minister of Defence, informed a reporter yesterday that he had received no information about any outbreak of typhoid in the Maori Expeditionary Force at Avondale, nor had the Commandant (Colonel Robin). "I believe the Teport to be absolutely -without foundation in fact," said Mr. Allen.
