The Wairoa Dairy Factory Company is the only company dealing: with dairy; produce in the town, and while they have onlv twenty-two suppliers at the present' time, they pay out between.. £400 and £500 per month, for about nine months of the year. The factory, has been in existence for twelvo years, and this season the output Will _u» about thirty tons, an increase of live tons over the output of last year. • But • what is reaUr required is a bigger, sapply, for the plant at the factory is cap-' able of dealing with double,that output, i The company has a progressive manager in Mr. J. W. Smith, who has had dairying experience in various parts of: New Zealand. This year he has ia- ,■ stalled a half-ton ice-plant at the factory, at a. cost of £85. To freeze ihoice he bas made ah extension of 'tba previous plant, and ico is produced at an entire absence of extra cost. Thin season to date ice has been supplied to the town to tho extent of. £50, and has proved a 'boon to householders and; tradospeoplo during th 9 hot summer months. It is expects that the outlay on the plant will be mot by the sale-, of ice this season alone. Tho quality of: the butter is high, and all tho output has been graded 90J, Grst grade, and a guaranteed price of Is. Id. per lb. i». secured for the product. The largest supplier is Mr. Hatxy ' Sunimorfieid, chairman of directors' if tho company, who has one of tho most up-to-dato dairy farms in Npw Zealand, situated about a mile from the town'.
