The Pope's prayer for peace was offered up at- Westminster Cathedral and all other Catholic Churches in Europe. Sixty thousand attended at St. Peter's, Rome, and there was an immense congregation in Paris at Notro Damo, STAGGERING CASUALTY LIST. Copenhagen, February 8. One hundred and forty-two Prussian lists show 953,117 casualties, many of them dating from September. Three new regiments which replaced bodies which had been annihilated were themselves wiped out at Bielanz (in the Eastern theatre) at the beginning of December.
