GERMANS URGED TO GIVE UP THEIR GOLD
A SACRED DUTY TO THE FATHERLAND. Amsterdam, December 15. Tho Munstor correspondent of the "Telegraaf" states that the General Commanding at Munster, in Westphalia, has addressed the following summons to the burghers:— "Who will give to the Fatherland gold for silver and paper money ? Ohango all the gold you possess at the post-offices and railway stations, or any other public office. "It is a sacred Gotl-imposed duty for every one ■to help to strengthen our war preparations. Great sum 6of gold still lie continually- useless, especially in the country regions. Let nobody believe that paper is less valuable than chinking metal. That it is not so the General 1 Commanding formally and solemnly assures every one, and the'holder shall not experience one penny of loss, now or ever. "Therefore open your purses, chests, and drawers, and bring what gold you have instantly to a public office. Just now at Christmas timo so many gold pieces creep from concealment. Go, l.&arofere, and chauge them, not for self-indulgence in the 6hops, but at tho post-office or railway. Render unto Caesar what is Caesar's. This command is also valid hero. Let every one beware lest his negligence at this serious iiina should brand his soul." From another quarter the clergy are requested to use their influence to induce the country population to surrender their cold.
