CIVIC AFFAIRS
MEETING OF THE COUNCIL. The City Council met last night. As the Mayor, was absent, Councillor W. H. P. Barber .presided. There were present* also, (Councillors J. E. Fitzgerald, A. H. Hindtnarsb; R. A. Wright, M. F. Luokie, E. Tregear, L. M'K.enzie, W. J. Thompson, A. It. Atkinson, H. Buddie, and U. Frost. The publio sewer is to be extended from . Butt Street to Harland Street, Vogeltown, at an 'estimated oost of It was agreed that an exchange of land should be affected at Baker Street, Highland Park Estate, in order to improve the accoss to the street. The proposal i 6 recommended by the City Engineer. The property-owners of Nairn Street affected by the proposal to extend Hauka Street along the Town Belt will be forwarded particulars 'of the scheme, aiid advised that on payment of the cost, viz., £1500, the work will be commenced.
