PROHIBITED TELEGRAMS

Regulations prohibiting the transmission of telegrams of-the following nature were contained in last night's Gazette:— Telegrams which are indecently or obscenely worded, or which appear to contain matter of a treasonable, seditious, libellous, or grossly offensive character. Telegrams in plain language relating to betting or to investments on the totalisator, or in coded language • reasonably supposed to relate to betting or to investments on the totalisator, addressed to any person 011 a racecourse. Money-order telegrams addressed to a racing club, or to a secretary or other officer, agent, or servant of a racing club, relating to investments 011 the totalisator, whether addressed to a racecourse or elsewhere. Telegrams in plain language relating to betting or to investments 011 the totalisator, or in coded language reasonably supposed to relate to betting or to investments on the totalisator, addressed to any person who has been convicted in a Court of law under the Gaming Act, 1908, or any amendment thereof, of any offence relating to betting or investments on the totalisator ; and any money-order, telegram addressed to any such person. Telegrams relating to Customs duties during any period for which the transmission thereof is prohibited by tho Minister of Telegrams.
