BRITISH AND AMERICAN PETROLEUM.
Sir,—l have been waiting for someono acquainted with the petroleum market to bring up the subject. It has puzzled nio to find out why all the keroBone one sees about the city is American, when a British vessel with British oil visits the Dominion at intervals, and is now on our coast. I havo a feeling that we are being bled by tho American syndicate. For somo years now kerosene (and I suppose benzine, etc.) has steadily advanced in price. Why is it that wo do not see the British oil for sale in the city, though I frequently see small parcels being sent by the coastal boats to other ports, which show that the oil is not off the market? Is it a matter of discounts or intimidation? America appears to bo out to make all the trade she can, regardless of her moral duty. It appears to me time that we supported our own nation, and let America keep her oils. —I am, etc., CITIZEN.
